A Little Tweak

A little tweak

Most of the hotels have almost similar room and bathroom plans. Interior might differ from hotel to hotel but the basic layout of rooms is almost same. Normally from hotel to hotel, the change is very insignificant to get noticed.

Recently, when I check-in at Hotel , I found a welcome change. The closet was not next to the entrance. When I moved around, there were some other changes in the room which immediately gave signal to my minds, indicating- "It’s different".

Even in bathroom, the bathing area was not at the conventional place. There was lot of pleasing change my eyes observed.

Does it cost too much to challenge the conventional?

Maybe yes, maybe not, but when question is about differentiation, how do you differentiate your product like a hotel room with other hotels? While service is very important factor, tweaking our mind to initiate inexpensive changes that can bring differentiation to your product can actually create reasons for your customers to choose your products over your competitors.

After a late night meeting, I woke up little late the next morning. I called up reception with a request to get my check ready, when I indicated that I am coming in two minutes, the immediate response was - “Sir, I am sending the bell boy in one minute” and she was correct, by the time I actually put the phone down, the doorbell rang!

How much actually it cost to give a little tweak to your thinking? And does it cost heaven to give an extra service where it actually matters?
